Coming Soon at Christ Church

Resolved

title

After two hours of talking over coffee and a scone, your mentor, for whom you have immense love and respect, rises from her chair, reaches across the table, clutches both of your hands and says, “Before I go, I want to tell you one more thing, and I don’t want you to forget it.” As she poignantly whispers this counsel, pausing pregnantly between each word, you soak in the message, desperately hoping to not forget what was said in this moment. You will leave the appointment wanting to put those words into practice. At Christ Church, we view our six mis- sion values as this sage advice. We revisit them every year to marinate in their juices, trusting that they will begin to routinely punctuate our lives. For 2010, Christ Church is Resolved: To expand the kingdom, To make peace, To exalt God, To tell the story, To shape the church, and To build community.

Advent Prayer Guide

title

Advent is a time for the church to be spiritually renewed in the practices of daily prayer, among other things.  So, I hope you will be able to join us at 7:15am on Tuesdays at the home of the Figueroas or Thursdays at the home of the St. Clairs.

You can download a copy of our Advent Prayer Guide, prepared by Jonathan St. Clair, our pastor of Spiritual Formation here.

Also, on Dec 17 we will host a dessert and discussion at the St. Clair home of On the Incarnation by St. Athanasius.  I hope you will consider reading and discussing this Christian classic with us. It is short, with a great introduction by C.S. Lewis.  Sorry, no pictures or pop-ups!
